In 2022, after a 6-year medical odyssey, our son was finally diagnosed with Becker’s Muscular Dystrophy (BMD). While the diagnosis brought relief, it was quickly overshadowed by the reality that no treatment options were available. Fear, anxiety, and sleepless nights consumed us as we worried about the future of our beloved boy.
Everything changed when we met with doctors pioneering work in CRISPR technology and learned that a cure for muscular dystrophy was within reach. At that moment, our mission became clear: GET THIS DONE NOW.
In 2023, we founded Strongest Hearts, organized CRISPR research with Hunterian, and are rapidly advancing toward pre-clinical therapeutic development.
Muscular dystrophy doesn’t stop—and neither will we. We are fully committed to ending this disease and building a brighter future for our son and countless others.
In 2022, Ryan and Tania Barbera founded Strongest Hearts after their only son was diagnosed with Becker’s Muscular Dystrophy. Driven by this life-changing experience, they committed themselves to a mission of finding a cure for muscular dystrophy.
Strongest Hearts is not only focused on advancing research but also on providing education to families and the medical community. By improving early identification and offering support, the foundation aims to bring hope and help to those affected by the rarest and most severe forms of muscular dystrophy.
Together, they are turning their family’s journey into a powerful force for change.
